ART CLASSROOM NEWS December Highlights
Students worked on a painting unit:
PreK learned about pointillism and created a rainbow painting only using dots.
Kinder learned about pointillism and created a landscape using a paint brush for a smooth finish and a Qtip for dots.
1st grade learned about the artist Eric Carle and his art making process for the illustrations in his books. They created animals just like Carles. 2nd grade learned about value, tints, and shades. They painted a cat using tints, shades, and patterns.
3rd grade learned about pointillism and painted a landscape only using dots.
4th grade created a galaxy using collage and mixed media.
5th grade is created a galaxy painting using a sponge and used a collage technique to create planets.
6th grade learned about tone, tints, and shades. They painted a monochromatic landscape using only one color.
Coming in January
Students will begin an exciting clay unit in January! They’ll explore basic hand-building techniques, experiment with shaping and texture, and create their own finished clay artwork. We’re looking forward to a creative start to the new year! Additional Information

Additional Information:
Students will be building a digital portfolio through an app called Artsonia. With this app parents can access student’s online gallery, leave encouraging messages, and add family and friends to the student’s fan club. Parents and fans receive email notifications when students publish new art.
