Happy March Sundance Families,

It has been an exciting beginning to second semester! We have been busy student creators in the Innovations Lab. Our focus for January and February was teamwork and collaboration using their iPad to complete a 2 minute or less video submission for the Los Lunas Schools Film Festival. We studied genres such as Silent Film, Music Video, Tutorial, Storytelling, and Documentary/Mobile Report as well as watched last year’s winning videos to help harvest and inspire our creativity. The video submissions were due on Wednesday, February 21st. Winners will be selected and they will have their film showcased at the Los Lunas Schools Film Festival before Spring Break. The week before Spring Break we will again continue our typing skills and focus on WPM (words per minute) and accuracy as this is a crucial component to using a PC (personal computer) and their iPads. 6th grade students will finish researching and typing their Culture
Fair Projects.

After Spring Break, our next innovative project will be a cross curricular activity writing poetry in honor of National Poetry Month. After the poetry is written we will use our typing skills to type a final piece. Then lastly, we will record ourselves reading all the poetry and make a class compilation. We will use Apple Clips, iMovie, and Flip to help us with this activity.

Lastly, now that the weather is warming up and the days are getting longer, please make sure you enjoy these beautiful New Mexico days and take time to unplug and relax! I hope you have an enjoyable spring break!
